Meeting Minutes
November 8, 2001
In attendance were:
Tom Keels, James Palmer, Steve Stinson, Michael Scibelli, Dan Ellinor, Wil

Dasevels, Bill McCully, Don England, Rusty Jenkins, Max Ullrich.
Club Business:
Steve Stinson President, Chuck Simpson Tournament Director
- Steve Stinson called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm.
- Announced that the next club tournament would be at the Old Spanish Fort ramp on the St.
Marks River on November 17, 2001. Blast off will be at 7:00 am, Weigh in at 2:30 pm.
Cookout and Barbeque
- This will be the last NFGFC Tournament for this year.
- Currently looking for volunteers who would like to be on a committee to set up next
years tournament schedule. Anybody who does not wish to be on the committee, but would
like to submit suggestions for the tournaments should get them to one of the club
officers.
Brian Walls Information Officer
Brian updated the club membership with handouts on the following items:
- Manatee Update
Petition has been filed by CCA to remove the manatee from the
endangered species list.
- South Carolina Hatchery Raised Cobia
South Carolina DNR biologists
have released 1500 hatchery raised, tagged cobia along the states near shore waters in an
effort to study migration habits.
- Stock Assessments for Gag, Vermillion Snapper, and Gray Triggerfish
NMFS is
currently reviewing stock assessments for the above listed species. The latest report will
be available for review at meetings in Tampa. Recommendations will be presented to the
Gulf Council at the Brownsville, Texas meeting Jan. 21-24, 2002.
- Shrimp Amendment
Public input on Shrimp Amendment 10 has been deferred until
the Dec. 10 14 meeting of the council meeting in Biloxi, Mississippi. Shrimp
amendment 10 deals with bycatch reduction on the west coast of Florida.
Tom Keels Secretary
Tom announced to the membership that he was in the process of setting up discount
memberships in Boat US. NFGFC members will receive discounts provided that the club
maintains at least 5 members in Boat US. NFGFC members who are also Boat US members will
be able to renew at the discounted rates. More information will be made available at the
December meeting.
Guest Speaker Capt. Pat McGriff, One More Cast Guide Service
Capt. McGriff gave a very informative discussion on use of artificial baits including
color selection, type of action, water and weather conditions. Pat also stayed afterward
to answer all our questions and pass out samples of the latest baits from Bass Assassin.
